Joseph Tenenbaum was born in Sasow, Poland, in 1887. During his years as a student he became involved in the Hashahar student youth organization. He served as a military doctor in the Polish army during World War I. Tenenbaum emigrated to New York in 1920. He formed the Joint Boycott Council of the American Jewish Congress and Jewish Labor Committee in 1933. He died in 1961.
